The Windy City

I am here in the Windy CIty, sitting in the cozy lobby of The Whitehall Hotel
waiting for my room to be ready.

A friend and I are here to take a class from Nicholas Lodge at the French Pastry School.. It's going to be great!

CrEATe at The Weisman

Saturday's weddings were a completely different feel than Friday's Poker theme. A sweet Swiss Dot was delivered to Centennial Lakes for an afternoon event, and then it was off to the Weisman Museum.

Masha and Chris had a small elegant affair planned for their day. I tinted the white chocolate roses to match the center pieces, and the design was drawn from the gorgeous lace on her gown's sleeve.

CrEATe did the catering. A sharper, more professional group of chefs, not to mention Nicky and her staff of servers, can not be found. The dinner was surely going to be divine.

Poker and Pastries

Well, I think Teresa and Steve's Texas Hold'Em cake looks great. I delivered it to Mendakota Country Club with about 30 dozen miniature pastries including key lime, lemon curd and fresh fruit tarts.

The sun was just starting to come out for their celebration when I left.

Best wishes to them both.

Texas Hold'Em

Teresa and Steve wanted a poker theme for their September 25 wedding at Mendakota Country Club. The cards and chips are done. Next comes the table.

Thank You Bjorn

I can only say Wow to the images Bjorn sent me from last week's ISES event. They are phenomenal.

And thank you to Martha for letting me use her cool bird bath.

Thank You.

Those Who Serve

I feel that those who serve deserve some special attention.

Heather was of the same mind, so for their nuptials, she asked me to make Carl's #320 car in cake.

Best wishes to the happy couple.

Isn't It Lovely

Look at the lovely photos Bella Gala sent me.

Thank you Gretchen for being so gracious and generous with the images.

Fall Harvest

Here's an idea for a fall party. Cupcakes as apples, mums and fallen leaves.

To carry the theme into the flavors, try apple spice with caramel buttercream. Yum!

Wine Stomp and Pottery

I gave myself a mini vacation this weekend. Headed north to Miltona(for the cabin) and Alexandria for The Grape Stomp and Wine estival at Carlos Creek Winery.

My Uncle was displaying his Bending Pines Pottery(sorry, no website yet) as well as the coloring books he illustrated. My aunt's friend, Cindy Krone was also displaying her wares-gorgeous dried flower arrangements in pots(Kenny's of course), old suitcases, metal bins, you name it.

It was a nice getaway, the view was gorgeous, and I came back refreshed.

I'm In!

I have been accepted into Style Me Pretty's Little Black Book. Yeah!

Best of Saint Paul 2009......or not

I was excited, I made phone calls..."I've won an award!"

Or not.

It was a scheme to get money, a lot of money, for the honor of displaying a wall plaque or desk display.

Sighhhhh.......

Max and Sadie turn 7!

My niece and nephew turned 7 this weekend. The party was great. 50 guests, 22 of them kids, a big bouncy castle(I'm sure there's a better name for it, but you get the idea-kids bouncing and jumping and laughing, etc.)

Auntie Cookie(that's me, they have no clue who Jessica is!), got some happy squeals from Max and Sadie as she brought the cake in!

Amy and Mike

The reception, a gorgeous combination of pink and green, was held at the North Oaks home of Amy's parents. Amy and Mike carried the sophistication to the cake, by recreating the invitation and menu detail. Stunning!

Two Peas in a Pod

This sweet topper will be picked up tomorrow for an event next weekend.
The bride will be wearing a beautiful birdcage style veil with a vintage clip just above her ear.
